Wellness & Prevention

One key to pets living a long, healthy, and happy life is regular wellness exams. Wellness and preventive care for dogs and cats can be a bit overwhelming; however LOCVS can help guide in

your pet’s care by putting together a manageable plan. We base this plan for your pet on his/her age, lifestyle, weight, and health considerations.

Live Oak County Veterinary Services can achieve a higher state of wellness for your pet. They do this by performing full physical examinations with laboratory tests to detect any changes in your pet’s health since his/her last exam. We also put your pet on a course of prevention for parasites and disease.

OUR STANDARD OF CARE AT LOCVS INCLUDES:

VACCINES

Vaccinations play a crucial role ensuring you and your pet are protected. We annually recommend vaccination against Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and Upper Respiratory vaccines. We make vaccination decisions based on your pet’s risk to different diseases. LOCVS also offers vaccines specific to our area such as the Rattlesnake and Parvovirus vaccine.

DENTISTRY

Dentistry for pets is often taken for granted. Damaged teeth and gum disease leads to pain and bacterial infections which can lead to anorexia, dehydration, and lethargy. All dental procedures at LOCVS are performed under anesthesia for your pet’s comfort and safety.

PREVENTIVE EXAMS

Full physical exams help our veterinarians determine and monitor changes in your pet’s health. Animals age at a much faster rate than we do. Therefore, routine check ups give us the opportunity to identify and manage problems before they become a life threatening issue.

HEALTH SCREENINGS

Regular blood tests, urinalyses, or fecal examinations are important tools to evaluate whether your pet has contracted diseases or parasites. If performed regularly, our staff can establish a baseline of your pet’s normal functions and have the ability to track changes over time.
